New Staff Orientation and Faculty Work Week

New Teachers (August 2020)

Two training events took place on campus after the summer holidays: the New Staff Orientation and the Faculty Work Week.
The ASV Curriculum Coordinator, Ms. Amanda Bird, led the orientation for 20+ new teachers and teaching assistants. “The topics ranged from introducing some initiatives we have at ASV like the Understanding by Design (UbD) curriculum framework; technologies like Google Classroom and SeeSaw; teacher growth and development; and the Positive Behavioral and Intervention Supports (PBIS) program,” Ms. Bird recounted.

By the end of this orientation new staff members were excited to start classes. Prior to this the school held the traditional Faculty Work Week, combining planning meetings and more time for classroom set up, given that the COVID-19 contingency plan requires for many groups a new location on campus.
