A Caring Community. Overview of Winter Campaigns

In December, students of American School of Valencia led several service campaigns to support NGOs in our community. We donated and delivered 20 festive food baskets to families in Puçol, via Pasalo Puzol. Each class from 1st to 10th grade prepared a box with special treats for one family. They also decorated the baskets and prepared messages and greeting cards. You can find some references on Pasalo Puzol’s blog.

Also in December, elementary students organized bake sales for the Kapita School Project raising 200 euros. As we do throughout the year, the sandwich run group went out to deliver afternoon snacks to people on the streets of Valencia. Grade 6 students donated money to buy small winter warmer gifts (socks and scarves) for those men.

Collaborating with the NGO, Create for Children, we donated 50 small festive food parcels and collected 6 supermarket trollies of staples for the children’s home El Preventorio in Real de Gandia. Stationary and exercise books were recycled and reused and also put into the donation. Finally, grade 11 students had a creative and fun day of holiday craft activities with the children at the home.

The last day of school before the holiday, High School students organized and performed a charity concert to raise awareness about the children’s home.

You can find a summary of all these campaigns in the school entrance hall. All of these activities are what makes our school mission come alive as we prepare globally-conscious students in a collaborative and caring environment! Thank you to everyone who contributed!
