New Assistant Principal Rachel Rubio Joins the Preschool and Elementary at ASV!
We are so pleased to have Rachel joining our ASV leadership team as the new Preschool and Elementary Assistant Principal! Rachel brings a wealth of leadership and diverse educational expertise, along with a passion for excellence and a joy of supporting young learners. Below is an introduction in her own words!
Dear American School of Valencia Community,
I am excited to be joining the AVS community this year and look forward to getting to know every one of you, but first let me take a moment to introduce myself. I enjoy hiking, biking, snowboarding, and camping. The love of my life is my dog, Finnegan. You can often find us enjoying the great outdoors or snuggled up reading books.
I grew up in Texas and attended the University of Texas at El Paso. In 2000, with the love and support of my family, I moved to Colorado and became a 4th grade teacher. After eleven years in the classroom, and a newly acquired MA in School Administration and Leadership Policy from CU Denver, I made the difficult decision to leave the classroom and become a principal. It was an honor to serve as the principal of Summit Elementary School for the past 7 years.
A large part of what makes me who I am is courage. “Courage is the first of Human qualities because it is the quality which guarantees all others.” – Winston Churchill. It takes courage to work in the field we work in. It takes courage to meet the challenges we must meet head on. It takes courage to inspire young brains to think big thoughts on a daily basis. However, if we come together – administration, staff, parents, community, and students – as a family we can accomplish all that is asked of us. Our family unit will provide the courage we need to open up every opportunity our children need to become successful in any adventure they choose. By working together we can hold ourselves accountable to high expectations and ensure that each of us will uphold our family obligation to inspire others to reach further than they thought possible.
I look forward to meeting you very soon. Thank you for this opportunity! It will be an absolute joy for me.
