The opening ceremony was held in the theater on Friday, December 2, 2022. It included welcome messages offered by Ms. Alexandra D. (Grade 11), Mr. Danila K. (VALMUN 2022 Secretary General), the ASV Director, Mr. Michael L. Smith, and the UN keynote speaker: Mr. Samuel Leal, Chief of the Technology Development, Design and Planning Section at the United Nations Global Service Center in Valencia.
VALMUN is an academic simulation of the United Nations which aims to educate participants about current events, topics in international relations, diplomacy, and the United Nations agenda. The VALMUN 2022 theme is Stabilization through Progress, and VALMUN delegates will debate such topics as territorial disputes in the South China Sea, the weaponization of artificial intelligence, the rise in energy prices, human rights abuse in wartime, and the negative effects of overpopulation.
Welcome to the 200 delegates, admins, and chairs to ASV and VALMUN 2022. We hope that all delegations leave VALMUN enriched, empowered, and energized to tackle global challenges with forward-thinking solutions.
