Valencia International Schools Basketball Tournament

ASV teams Finished in Second and Third Position

Seven international schools in Valencia gathered to compete in a new edition of the Valencia International Schools (VIS) Junior Basketball tournament.  The event involved over 150 students in Middle School grades representing Caxton College, Los Olivos English School, The British School of Alzira, The British School of Villa Real, The British School of La Cañada, The British School of Xativa, Cambridge House School, and American School of Valencia. All games took place in the Godella Sports Hall, a local facility regularly used by Club Bàsquet L’Horta Godella, on Wednesday morning.

The competition had two sections -boys and girls- with eight teams competing in a preliminary stage and a playoff phase. The ASV boys team won the 3 games of that preliminary round and the semifinal against the British School of Alzira; the final game was lost by just one point after an extended time.  The ASV girls team did a perfect group round, was beaten in the semifinal game by Alzira and conquered the bronze medal by winning the 3rd-4th place game.  Marta F., Dylan C., and Teegan M. were included in the all-star teams of the tournament.

All players proudly represented ASV, showed a great team spirit and willingness to learn and grow as athletes, an important treat given that only a few of them regularly play basketball in clubs.  There was a nice atmosphere among all participants and coaches.
