Vaccination campaign for Grades 4-6 Held at ASV

Authorized students in Grades 4 through 6 received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine on Monday, December 20, 2021 as part of the campaign for children initiated by the Conselleria de Sanitat. A pediatric team from the Puçol Health Center stayed on campus from 10:00 to 12:00. Only students who had a signed authorization form received the first dose.

On Friday, December 17, 2021, three days before the campaign, the school prepared the vaccination center in the Theater. It had an identification desk, a private space where the dose was administered, and a waiting area for students to wait 15 minutes after the shot. On Monday, the ASV infirmary, the ASV Leadership Team, and each homeroom teacher in those grades supervised the operation and guided our students and those family members who wished to attend.

“The vaccination process was quick and did not have any relevant issues,” one of the school nurses, Ms. Inma Requena, says. “We want to thank our students, family members and staff for their cooperation in this important action for the protection of our community.”

As the regional authorities communicated earlier in December 2021, the vaccination campaign aims to reduce the level of COVID infections among children being 5-11 and, consequently, cut the transmission within the family and the school environment.  By getting the vaccine, children increase their protection against the disease now and in the future, as well as reduce the possibility of being affected by the persistent COVID syndrome.  ASV will receive information about the second dose for this group and the first dose for children ages 5 and up in January 2022.

Thank you to all of the faculty involved and to the Infirmary  (Ms. Inma Requena and Ms. Silvia Chamorro) for their hard work to set this operation up in such a short time.
