Commemorative gift to Ms. Amanda Bird

University of Kentucky – American School of Valencia

Celebrating 10 years of a Shared Journey in International Education

This week, American School of Valencia was pleased to host a delegation from the University of Kentucky (UK) College of Educationmarking the 10th anniversary of our academic partnership. Led by Mr. Nate Hibbitts, UK Director of Field Experiences, the group included professors who came to complete on-site supervision of the UK student-teachers having their practicum in our school during the Fall 2025 Semester.

A Partnership for Global Readiness

The ASV-UK Student-Teacher Program is a remarkable outcome of the school vision of preparing globally-conscious, life-long learners. ASV facilitates an international practicum experience to undergraduate students, while our students benefit from having an additional English-speaking educator in the classroom.

Mr. Hibbitts emphasized how the program helps future educators grow professionally and gain cultural understanding:

One of the great things is having the opportunity to travel abroad, just to learn. Our students learn from different cultures and are able to take this back to their communities. It really helps them grow and develop professionally

Nate Hibbits, UK Director of Field Experiences

Year after year, UKY students highlight how welcomed they feel at ASV and some embark into international education even when this was not their initial intention. ASV is proud to continue this program, which enhances a caring and collaborative environment for both our community and our American university partners.
