Three Days to Open the ASV MUN Conference

This weekend, from November 21 to 23, 2025, the American School of Valencia will host its 13th annual Valencia Model United Nations (VALMUN) conference. The event will welcome over 250 student-delegates from eight different schools who will simulate the roles of UN representatives across various committees and the UN Security Council.

The 2025 conference is centered on one timely and relevant theme: Divided World: Addressing Conflict to Achieve Peace. VALMUN’s Secretary General, Noa S. (Grade 12), highlighted that this theme “reflects the current geopolitical climate in our world and reminds us of delegate’s fundamental role of ensuring diplomacy and peace over conflict, which we become increasingly in need of.”

The conference team, which comprises two faculty members as MUN coordinators, and experienced students as VALMUN leadership team, are finalizing the preparations: documentation about the topics in each committee, opening ceremony, logistics… In the meantime, student-delegates get together during Advisory on Thursdays to review debate rules and practice their negotiation skills in vital mock debates. ”As young delegates experience MUN for the first time, they may feel uncertain of the procedures or scared to voice their country’s concerns,” VALMUN Secretary General said. “Through mock debates we aim to build confidence and familiarize them with debate procedure in a low-pressure environment,” she explained.

The conference will officially commence on Friday with the Opening Ceremony, followed by the first activities in each committee which includes delegates opening speeches and dedicated time for lobbying. Saturday will be addressed to formal debate sessions.
