A new mural featuring the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) was posted one week ago in the school atrium. This is the first step of a series of actions promoting the gradual implementation of the 17 goals that are part of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Beginning in 2021-2022, ASV aspires to begin integrating SDGs into the school curriculum by raising students’ awareness and developing a deeper understanding of the global challenges behind them.
According to the UN, the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, adopted by all United Nations Member States in 2015, “provides a shared blueprint for peace and prosperity for people and the planet, now and into the future.” The 17 SDGs are “an urgent call for action by all countries – developed and developing – in a global partnership” to walk towards “the end of poverty and other deprivations, improve health and education, reduce inequality, and spur economic growth – all while tackling climate change and working to preserve our oceans and forests.”
