On Friday, December 20, 2024, the ASV community gathered for the ASV FundRun, an event organized to close the Fall 2024 Semester and to contribute to the reconstruction of the most affected towns by the DANA disaster. The event was a four-hour relay walk-run across the school in which all grades participated. Nursery children had the honor of inaugurating the race, accompanied by some Grade 12 students.
All other grades were assigned times to run or walk, with students taking turns to run or walk carrying a ribbon (our FundRun button). The last lap of the race was done by our Seniors, the Grade 12. At this time, a thermometer designed by a group of Grade 11 students was ready to highlight the amount raised: 14,100 euros.
ASV Director, Michael L. Smith, highlighted during the closing ceremony the value of this joint effort and the great success of surpassing the initial goal of 10,000 euros. Mr. Julio Huerta, Director of Fundació Horta Sud, expressed a heartfelt thanks on behalf of the entire organization and shared with our students his hope of how solidarity and mutual support are the key for a better future. Additionally, Mr. Josep Vicent Frechina, MS-HS Assistant Director, highlighted how this community activity aligned with ASV’s CARE Values.
Thank you to all of the students, families, faculty-staff who contributed so generously to this fundraising activity on behalf of the Fundació L’Horta Sud. Your contributions make a difference to so many in rebuilding the L’Horta Sud area of Valencia.
