The Acquisition of Reading and Writing Skills at ASV

The literacy program used at ASV supports our students in the acquisition of reading and writing skills. To mention one example, when approaching non-fiction texts, children become familiar with topics and text structures and learn how to create their own descriptions, guides and reports.

ASV offers frequent information about the Reading and Writing Workshop model in grade level orientations, parent-teacher conferences, and other events. Now our families have an upcoming opportunity to join Teachers College (Columbia University) staff to learn more about how students in grades Kinder – Grade 5 learn reading and writing at school, and how to support your child’s literacy education at home.

This session is composed of a series of short 15 minute small group presentations called workshops. Parents can choose the workshops that match their needs and interests. The schedule of specific workshops will be made available to participants prior to the event. This session is offered live and is not recorded for later viewing.
