The 2025-2026 Erasmus+ Experience with Sint Maria Geel Comes to an End

The 2026 edition of the international partnership between American School of Valencia and Sint Maria Geel (SMG) has successfully concluded. Four Grade 12 students who are completing Secondary Education enjoyed a practicum experience at ASV, immersing themselves in the daily operations of an international school. The group, composed of four SMG Seniors, arrived at ASV on Monday, May 4, 2026.

During their stay, two of the students collaborated within the Kinder and Grade 3 classrooms. In these roles, they supported regular coursework and contributed to special learning activities, including delivering engaging presentations to ASV students about Belgium and their hometown of Geel. Concurrently, the other two students completed a productive placement supporting the Marketing and Communications Department and the Main Office, gaining valuable, practical insights into school administration.

First established in 2022, this partnership continues to be immensely beneficial for both educational institutions year after year. It offers a unique cross-cultural exchange and fosters significant professional growth. “Each year, the relationships we build make such a positive impact on our ASV community,” noted Ms. Amanda Bird, ASV’s Director of Teaching, Learning, and Curriculum.

Below are the reflections and comments shared by the Sint Maria Geel students:

“I am incredibly grateful for the opportunities and experiences I had at ASV. Both the children and the teachers are truly wonderful people who made this internship an unforgettable experience.”
