Special Projects Leaded in IT

Students taking IT in 9th and 10th grade were encouraged to take part of the activity 20% Time / Genius Time, that means use that portion of their class time to develop a project based on their interests. The purpouse of the IT teacher, Samuel Landete, was “to enable students to start taking control of their own learning”.

Throughout the school year, students explored ideas, planned how to develop them, and reflected their progress on a Google Site webpage. Interesting results included varied focus such as literature (a poetry slam, later published as book by Haley Sandoval), cooking (Nacho Sevilla) or science (a mobile device launched to the stratosphere, by Eric Marti).
