Soccer and Basketball. First Games for ASV+ Elementary Students within the School Day

On Wednesday, November 18, 2015, 55 students from Los Olivos English School and 29 from the ASV+ Program came together to play several soccer and basketball games. Meet Ms. Escarlata Casas, ASV+ Coordinator, and Mr. Phil Buglas, PE teacher in Los Olivos, commenting the goal of this activity and the nice spirit children enjoyed:

Escarlata Casas. ASV+ Coordinator
“It was a pleasure to have Los Olivos school come over to ASV, this was a very good experience for the elementary ASV+ teams. It was the first time we have had the opportunity to do this and I can say it has been a success.”

“We are very proud of all our sport athletes, their behaviour and sportsmanship was an example for all. After the matches we nominated the best sportsmanship behaviour for both schools and ten (10) student-athletes got a golden medal for their effort, teamwork, endurance and respect.”

“Congratulations to all the players, they all did an awesome job!”

Phil Eagles, PE teacher Los Olivos
“The goal was being competitive, enjoying, showing a good level of sportsmanship. Hopefully children have time to sit down for a picnic and get to know each other.”

“This goes along with the PE Elementary curriculum but the idea is also to prepare them for when they get into High School, so they start to be more competitive in the games we organize.”

“Fifty-five students came, from Year 6 and Year 7 classes, that is your grade 5 and 6. Everyone in the class was taking part.”
