Faculty and staff participated in two annual events aimed to plan and prepare for the new academic year.
For educators joining our school for the first time, ASV had the New Staff Orientation led by Ms. Amanda Bird (Curriculum Coordinator) and Ms. BethAnn Kornobis (K-8 Literacy Coach) from August 23 to 31, 2021. This event combines general workshops and specific sections introducing the division and the department each new staff member is joining.
“Orientation Week 2021 was a success! New teachers learned the basics of ASV, reviewed the specific teaching and learning approaches we value, and were able to get into their classrooms a bit,” Ms. Bird described.
In addition to this, from September 1 to 3, 2021, all staff were involved in the Fall 2021 Work Week. This activity is focused on schoolwide planning and includes both general and specific meetings for each division and department. Teachers also have individual time to prepare their classrooms and lessons.
