Seabury Hall Students Experience Fallas with their Host Families

The visiting students from Seabury Hall (Maui, Hawaii) completed the first part of their exchange with ASV. After a first week of classes on campus and an excursion to Vilafamés to strengthen their new relationships, Seabury Hall students enjoyed the traditional Fallas Break from March 13 to 18, 2023.

“The diverse activities organized by our host families have allowed students to experience first-hand Spanish and Valencian culture during a very special period, Fallas,” Ms. Alina Athanasiadou, one of the Global Exchange Programs co-coordinators, says. Among other plans, Seabury Hall students toured Valencia to see the most important Fallas monuments, watched a mascletà -the afternoon fireworks- and went to the most visited places such as the City of Arts and Sciences, the Turia gardens, and the Albufera.

Some families traveled to other cities and the school organized an excursion to Peñíscola (Castellon) on March 14, 2023 for both visiting and host students. “It was an opportunity to see a historical site in our area,” Ms. Carolina Nonay adds.

The Seabury Hall group departed on March 18, and ASV students will be traveling to Seabury Hall on April 8 to 23, 2023.
