ASV staff in Preschool through High School engaged in professional development with Dr. Monica Medina from California State University (US) that was centered on two academic areas: first, continuing K-12 literacy training to strengthen teaching in the workshop model through data collection and small group instruction; and second, through instruction in English language acquisition and how we can build in strategies that will help increase the English language fluency of all of our students.
English language acquisition is an important goal of ASV, and when our teachers and staff learn and develop new instructional strategies to support English language acquisition throughout the curriculum, our students are the greatest beneficiary. A special thank you to Dr. Ann Kox for leading this important initiative and guiding students, parents, and staff to higher achievement.
