Presenting the Machado Literary Route made by the International Students

Ms. Ana Arjona, the Spanish teacher for international students in Grades 1-6, was recently invited to speak at the educational event “Literature, Territory and Education” organized by the University of Valencia (UV). Our teacher presented a recent activity developed by the SSL group: an interactive literary route honoring the Spanish poet Antonio Machado. The presentation was part of the “Teaching Experiences” talks scheduled on Saturday, April 6, 2019.

This literary route started in February when students researched and studied Machado’s life and poetry works, selecting a short set for the interactive route. On March 4, during the annual SSL Fallas Field Trip, they made out loud readings in several locations, while Ms. Arjona documented the activity. Poems and photos were then posted on several geolocalized resources on Google Maps, which makes possible an online revision of the route throughout this popular online service.

This dual feature (virtual and on the ground) alongside the art exhibition we can enjoy now at the ASV was warmly welcomed by many attendees, most of them professors at the UV, Spanish Language Teachers, and future educators.
