Positive Behavioural Intervention and Supports (PBIS) at ASV

At the American School of Valencia, one of the ways in which we create a positive learning environment is through Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS). This is a proactive approach for establishing behavioral expectations and the culture needed for all students to achieve social, emotional and academic success.

The objective of the PBIS framework is to ensure that all students learn to consistently exemplify the ASV CARE values:

  • C – Come Prepared
  • R – Respect Each Other
  • A – Act Responsibly
  • E – Engage in Learning

What can families do to support a positive and effective home-school partnership?

  • Have daily discussions about the CARE values at home
  • Complete the parent climate survey . . . periodically sent through links in ASV Voices
  • Celebrate success with your child
  • Have restorative conversations with your child, if/when concerns arise (i.e. your child receives a referral)
  • Collaborate with school faculty-staff to support appropriate school and social behaviors
  • Demonstrate trust in the team of educational and counseling staff who support the CARE values
