Performance of ASV Students in External Assessments

Results of the PISA (Program for International Student Assessment) test have been shared this week in national and international media. This test is administered every three years by the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) in order to evaluate students performance in several areas, including Mathematics.

ASV does not participate in the PISA test, therefore, PISA results cannot be compared to our school performance.  However, ASV does administer the Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) test provided by the NWEA in two different sessions in the Fall and Spring of each academic year.   Our students’ results in the Spring 2019, the most recent test administration for which we have data, reveal an outstanding performance by our students in Reading and Math.

All grade levels taking MAP (Grades 3 to 10) show performance above international standards. In the specific case of Grade 10 (the same grade level in which PISA test is administered), ASV was 10 points higher than the international average, with a large number of students located in the higher percentiles.

Even more significant is the fact that the MAP Spring 2019 Grade 10 Mathematics results exceeded those of the international norms, as well as the norms from the Mediterranean Association of International Schools (MAIS) and other American and international schools who administer MAP in Spain.

We wanted to take this opportunity to share this success with you and, as always, we are proud of our students’ achievements.
