An important piece of university preparation is taking college admissions exams. There are two standardized tests that are used for college admissions outside Spain: the ACT and the SAT. Both of these tests are vital components in the college application. Most universities will accept scores from either test with no preference for one over the other. There are a few colleges that do not require standardized tests for admission but it is important to check with each individual school to see what is required.
The Preliminary SAT / National Merit Qualifying Test is a practice test for the SAT and can also qualify grade 11 students with a U.S passport for National Merit scholarships. The Pre ACT is a practice test for the ACT. This year, ASV administers both practice tests to best serve the students; we give the PSAT to students in grade 11 (optional) and the Pre ACT to the grade 10 students. Whether your son/daughter is planning to study outside Spain or not, he or she will be benefit from taking one of the exams as results from both the PSAT and the Pre ACT give students advice on how to improve specific academic skills, create a study plan, and use an online college and career planning kit.
Both exams will take place on October 11, 2017 and your child will take the exam most appropriate for him or her. It is important that he or she come well rested and have a good breakfast since tests last all morning. On that day, students need to bring a calculator, nº2 pencil, pencil sharpener and an eraser.
We will administer the official SAT exam on the following dates at ASV, which is an official testing center. The registration deadline is always one month prior to the test date, so please plan to sign-up in advance.
