Students in Grades 4 and 5 are learning about Online Safety as part of the Personal and Social Education Program (PSE) at ASV. The PSE lessons are taught in partnership, by the homeroom teachers and the counselors. In Grades 4 and 5, PSE is led by Dr. María Alonso.
In the latest unit of study about Online Safety, students are learning what are the common risks to be aware of and where the most dangerous areas can be for young children with the use of social media and the Internet. The lessons also focus on how every student can carefully protect their safety and reputation when interacting online or when using social media.
Developing their personal power, learning how to deal with friend requests, being respectful online or alerting a trusted adult about any concern or issue online are some important topics that students are developing through personal creative projects such as videos, theater plays (depicted below) or research presentations.
