With only six days to end the academic year, the Athletic Department prepares to say goodbye to Mr. Boele Terpstra, the student-teacher who has been developing a professional experience at ASV as part of his Bachelor Degree in Physical Education at the University of Groningen (The Netherlands).
Mr. Terpstra arrived in September 2021, and after an initial stage of observation and training, he soon joined the Middle School and High School sections to support Mr. Ballester and Mr. Ojelade in the PE course. His university required an experience of at least 400 hours, but he has doubled this amount because wanted to stay as long as possible: “ASV is a great place to learn and become a better teacher,” he says.
The routine at the Athletic Department included PE lessons on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, as well as ASV+ soccer training sessions. “I was impressed seeing that ASV has outstanding athletic facilities and students have many opportunities to be active,” he remarked. Additionally, teachers and coaches have clear guidelines including “standards, lesson plans, and ideas on how to approach students” and this contributed to a faster integration in the ASV teaching teams.
The Athletic Department thanks Mr. Boele for his commitment and dedication and wishes him the best after graduating.
