Meet our New Teachers (II)

Jordi Ballester (Alicante, Spain)

Mr. Ballester is the most recent addition to the ASV Athletic Department and he will be working as Physical Education Teacher in Middle School. Mr. Ballester grew up in Alicante, the southern part of Comunitat Valenciana, but moved to the United States of America when he was 19 years old to study at Jacksonville University (Florida) and play college tennis.  After graduating in Science in Physical Education and complete a Master’s in Educational Leadership he moved to New York City to work at the John McEnroe Tennis Academy and as a PE Teacher in a public school. “I find that teaching positive behaviors and healthy habits to youngsters is one of the most rewarding experiences in my life,” he commented to ASV Voices. Mr. Jordi is “extremely thankful to the warm welcome by the whole ASV community since day 1. They have all been very supportive, caring, professional, and the school atmosphere is very motivating,” he said.

Jake Netherton (Oklahoma, United States)

Mr. Netherton has joined our school to teach English in High School.  He comes to ASV after four years teaching English in Denver, Colorado to middle school aged students.  “So far, the transition to Valencia has been incredible! I have enjoyed wandering the streets of the city and spending time at the beach,” he described to ASV Voices.  “The ASV community has been overwhelmingly welcoming, and I’m thankful for the opportunity to be a part of this staff. I look forward to a fantastic year with students here at ASV!”
