American School of Valencia participated in a 10th anniversary of #MADMUN, the Model United Nation conference organized by the American School of Madrid. Twenty students in Grades 7 through 9 debated and negotiated as diplomatic delegates in committees inspired by real UN councils and commissions. The conference took place in Madrid from Friday, March 22 to 24.
This type of MUN event focuses first on lobbying, then debating on the official agenda on the second day. The last day is a crisis scenario, an additional session in which students react to a fictional international issue. Hugo T. (Grade 8) was recognized with the “Most Improved Delegate” award in the Security Council.
