In recognition of International Women’s Day on March 8, the ASV Community buzzed with a variety of activities designed to showcase the contributions of women throughout history and in various fields.
Elementary School
Grade 2 students worked during the Spanish class and Spanish as Additional Language (SAL) in short texts about International Women’s Day. Members of the MS-HS Social Studies Department visited their classes on Friday to participate in the sharing time. Grades 3-5 students worked on short essays and leaflets about female scientists, artists, and inventors. These works are displayed now in the Upper Elementary Hallway.
Social Studies Project in Middle School and High School
The Social Studies Department led a learning project aimed to tribute women of all times and in all areas. Students were invited to design brochures about a protagonist of their choice as part. Throughout the week, the teachers placed the submitted works on two panels in the atrium.
Women in Science and Engineering
ASV Alumnus Marina Ortells, member of the Class of 2022, visited the school campus on Thursday, March 7, to talk to High School students about the role of women in science and engineering studies. She gave insight about female involvement in the team of the Google Club at the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV) and explained the processes behind the development of ChatGPT.
Middle School and High School Athletes
Finally, on Friday, March 8, female students and teachers who practice sports both at ASV or after school were invited to celebrate women’s contribution to the world of sports by taking a large group photo. The picture features more than 120 members of these sections wearing their outfits or representative elements of their sports.
