Faculty-Staff Begins the Adaptation to this New Teaching Framework
At ASV, we believe that our greatest asset is our faculty and that professional development is the best way to grow professionally as a learning community. This week, our school hosted four days of training on the Inquiry-Based Learning Framework, a preliminary step of the tentative application for candidacy of the IB Primary Years Program (PYP). This professional development has involved all of our educators in the Early Childhood and Elementary sections.
Mr. Matt Chambers and Ms. Suzanne Tomlinson, two renowned international educators with extensive expertise in the IBL framework, have guided our faculty and staff in exploring advanced strategies to foster student agency, developing explicit inquiry skills, and creating strong conceptual connections across all subject areas.

“We were so fortunate to learn together as a whole school community and then see what inquiry-based learning looks like in action in our own classrooms with ASV students. The level of engagement was clear, and it was exciting to see students making connections almost immediately. Our students are truly ready for this shift, and there is a real sense of enthusiasm among our faculty and staff as we move forward,”
Ms. Abigail Ramirez, K-2 Team Leader and Grade 1 teacher
With this activity, ASV is moving beyond traditional instruction toward a truly student-centered model where “comprehension, collaboration, creativity, and critical thinking” are at the forefront. By aligning our practices with international standards for inquiry, we ensure our students are not just academically prepared, but are also becoming globally conscious, life-long learners.
