Overview of the Visual Arts Journey
For Grade 11 IB Students, the first year of the IB Visual Arts course is a captivating exploration of perceptions and emotions, and how they can be used to build a very personal art portfolio. The course led by Ms. Jackie Paarhuis requires critical thinking, technical exploration, and careful documentation of their explorations with diverse media.
Although our students still have one academic year before presenting the final set of works for the IB Visual Arts Exhibition, they are impressed and excited with their growth as creators.

Students Present the Theory of Knowledge Exhibit
To bring year one of the IB Core course Theory of Knowledge to a close, the Grade 11 students each year present their exhibits to Middle School students. The abstract project asks the students to explore such questions as ‘what is the relationship between personal experience and knowledge?’, ‘who owns knowledge?’, ‘does some knowledge only belong to a certain community of knowers?’ to name a few.
Each student must answer one question in three different ways using three objects that either exist in the physical world or the virtual world. The main goal is to show how theory of knowledge manifests in the world. Quite often the Middle School students have very good questions at the end of their presentations. We thank them for visiting our exhibits.
