We Enjoyed Three Winter Concerts
Many families gathered to see the first three Winter Concerts featuring some classes in Preschool, in Elementary and in Middle School. Prekinder and Kinder classes had their performance on Tuesday, December 11, at the school theater, during an event prepared by their teachers and Ms. Esther Munteanu, the music teacher in Preschool and Grades 1 to 3. The result was lovely for parents and other family members who attended.
The Choir Teacher in Grade 4 through 8 led two concerts on Wednesday and Friday in the Athletic Center. Grades 4 and 5 performed first followed yesterday by students in grade 6, 7, and 8 taking choir during the first term of the academic year. Both programs included a variety of songs from other cultures, traditional carols, and pieces based on classical works like The Nutcracker or movies, such as The Greatest Showman. In celebration of legendary composer and conductor Leonard Bernstein’s 100th birthday this year, Grade 6 sang one of his most famous choruses for children’s choir, Gloria Tibi from Mass, featuring soprano soloist Olga Viytiv.
The ASV Foundation Community Choir joined both events to offer a set of carols in English, Spanish, and Valencià, sing the piece African Noel, and close the concert by singing, together with the students, Silent Night.
Food Drive and day retreat for children in El Preventorio
The ASV Community in Preschool and Elementary had an outstanding response to the Holiday Food Drive requests organized to benefit children living at El Preventorio infantil, a children’s home in Real de Gandia. A group of the children visited ASV on Thursday to participate in activities making crafts and games led by the CAS Grade 11 students. They also enjoyed storytelling in the Junior Library by Ms. Maribel.
Book Fair
It was great hosting once again a Winter Book Fair with English Wooks. The stand will be at ASV again on December 18.
