A group of 18 students in Grades 7, 8, and 9 participated in Madrid Model United Nations (MADMUN), the MUN event organized by the American School of Madrid, from March 24-25, 2023. Our students represented a variety of countries in a wide range of committees such as the Human Rights Commission, the Political Committee, and the Environmental Committee.
Some students were submitters of resolutions that finally were approved in their committees. All students were engaged in discussions and debates throughout the weekend with students from seven other international schools. One ASV student, Noa S, won the best speaker award in her committee and all students made their best effort to contribute to the committees.
On the final day, all students were gathered for the General Assembly where they faced a ‘breaking news’ crisis. They had to act fast, join and lobby with allies and prepare resolutions to be presented in a short window of time. A few of our students either made it to the big stage in front of all of the students to defend resolutions or made it to the microphone on the floor to challenge or support their resolutions.
All in all, it was an amazing MUN conference, and our ASV students truly represented the school as critical thinkers, communicators, and global citizens.
