High School students organize a Mathematical Modeling Competition

Students currently enrolled in Grades 6-10 are invited to participate in the ASV Mathematical Modeling Competition, an initiative developed by a team of five High School students and supervised by Mr. Mario Muñoz. team leader for this subject.

“Teams of four students will work collaboratively in order to answer an open-ended question using mathematical means,” student Danila K. describes.  Participant teams may win a pizza party, cinema tickets and ASV merchandise. All of the Middle School students registered will receive CARE points,

Mathematical modeling is a process in which real-life situations and relations in these situations are expressed by using mathematics (Haines and Crouch, 2007). “This activity not only allows students to develop a passion for mathematics but will also acquire an entirely new way of seeing the world through the mathematical lens,”  the organizers said.
