High School Final Exams Information

As you know final exams begin on June 17, 2016 for Grade 7 and 8 students and on June 20, 2015 for Grade 9, 10 and 11 students.   June 9th-June 17th  is our all-important Review.  Attendance is mandatory and teachers will be reviewing important material in class.  Students are not assigned homework but definitely may be given important work in class that is assessed and counts as part of their final grade.  In classes that do not have a final exam, teachers will be finishing the unit of study with classwork and discussions that may be assessed as well.

You can support your child at home by helping them review their study guides which they will receive no later than June 1st, 2016, and providing a quiet place to study and ensuring they are eating and sleeping well.

Final exams are an important opportunity for students to demonstrate what they have learned.  It is essential they do their own work.  We have explicit final exam procedures and the advisors review the procedures with the students.  If a student violates the procedures, s/he receives a 0 on the final exam.

Once Final Exams begin, PowerSchool will be closed so that teachers can update their grade books.  If you log-in you will get a message that “your account has been disabled.”  This is the standard PowerSchool message for when it is closed to the public.  Do not worry; there is nothing wrong with your account.  We will reopen PowerSchool by June 30th.  You can check your child´s final results at that time and/or come and pick up the grades in person on June 30th from 10:00 to 12:00.

Final exams are an important and stressful time for students. We have created a schedule that allows them to study here during the day before and after exams.  They are supervised by a teacher and attendance is mandatory.  If a student wants to arrive late or leave early, he or she must have previous written parent permission.  On Wednesday, June 22nd, there are no final exams for grades 9 and 10 and students may study at home.

Students return all library books and ASV-owned textbooks by the last day of final exams. Students are billed for lost or damaged books.  They also clean out their locker by the last day of final exams.

We hope that your child has a wonderful end of the year and successful final exams!
