Happy Thanksgiving to all of the ASV Community!

ASV celebrated this important American Holiday during the school day on Thursday, November 28, 2019.  In Grade 1, students made pilgrim hats and discussed with their teachers that Thanksgiving “is a day to give thanks for all the good things we have been given,” Ms. Watkins describes.  “They learned that in the United States, Thanksgiving is a day to celebrate with family and friends,” she adds.  Turkeys were noticed in that part of the school, as Grade 2 had been engaging Thanksgiving Crafts in the weekly Art period.

All classes enjoyed a Thanksgiving lunch including turkey, mashed potatoes, and peas.  A cornucopia was set up in the staff dining room to highlight the special menu prepared by Colevisa.

A common Thanksgiving project for all Preschool and Elementary groups are those pennants hanging across the hallways.  Each one contained a short text where the student wrote what they feel thankful for.  “Children were encouraged to not make a simple list but explain what those things mean in their life,’‘ explained one of our preservice teachers.
