Great Experience of the Girls Varsity Soccer Team in Lisbon

Fourteen girls in Grades 6 through 10 traveled to Cascais, Portugal, to compete in the Iberian League Girls Soccer Tournament hosted this year by the Carlucci American International School of Lisbon. After the preliminary stage the ASV team qualified to fight for the third place against the host school, CAISL; our players fought well but were unable to get back in the game after making a slow start.

ASV was voted the most sporting team by the other teams. Captain Mar O. (grade 9) was voted onto the All-star team.

This tournament has been the first international competition for some players. “Girls have built more team spirit and will improve as they continue to play together”, coach and Athletic Director Andy Ojelade remarked. “They have made lots of new friends and have been a credit to the school.”
