Grades 7 and 8 Ran the “Race Against Hunger”

On Friday, October 25, 2019, during the last two teaching periods in Middle School, students in Grade 7 and 8 featured a fundraiser event in favor of the NGO Action against Hunger“The Race against Hunger” was an athletic challenge involving a race around the school building during a given time (in this case, 40 minutes); each participant committed a donation from family members according to a chosen fee per lap. In total, ASV had 120 runners including Grade 7 and Grade 8 students, some staff members, and some IB students who coordinated the event as part of their CAS program.

Besides the thrilling of any athletic activity, the time preparing the race has been interesting to raise awareness on food crisis and malnutrition, two major goals for Action against Hunger.  This NGO  has been organizing the race for more than 20 years and the money raised by the ASV community will support some of their current projects in 50 different countries.

A nice outcome was the art mural made by all runners by leaving color marks each time they completed a lap.

Updates (November 4): The Event in the Media

The school community was able to see the event on the ASV’s social media but it also has been featured on two local news sites:
