Grade 8 Shares with University Students the Joy of Literature

On Thursday, grade 8 visited the School of Education at the University of Valencia. While we may think that this was an activity to learn more about this specific degree, the truth is that our students experienced a literary encounter with future English teachers as both groups have been reading the same novel, Stuck in Neutral, written by Terry Trueman, throughout the first trimester.

ASV students have read this book as part of the English course taught by Ms. Amanda Bird, and the UV students did it as part of their fourth year Foreign Language Teaching Methodology course taught by Professor Agustín Reyes.

Throughout the first ever literary encounter between ASV and University of Valencia, students worked in small groups with their set of pre-service teachers to discuss questions and exchange perspectives on the novel and a series of thought-provoking activities that included songs and short films. Both groups of students enjoyed meeting one another and by the end, expressed their desire to repeat the experience.
