Grade 4 Winter Learning Showcase

Grade 4 students had been working hard over the past 6 weeks studying community. In Social Studies they looked at how our municipal government works and we held our own class elections. They also studied social issues in Reading and thought about how the characters reacted to everyday situations that affect us all (bullying, racism, family issues, etc). In Writing, they tackled the difficult task of reporting on current events in our school community.

As a culmination of this work, they invited parents to the Grade 4 Winter Learning Showcase, featuring their “News Room” on the morning of Wednesday, March 1, from 9:45-10:25. Students presented a short “News Broadcast” and then shared their individual news stories with parents.

Each grade level will be hosting a Winter Learning Celebration in the next few months for students to share their learning with their parents.

Science Fair

Grade 4 classes also held a science fair last week. The students exhibited projects related to what they have been learning in Science class these past few weeks: the human body. Each student made a model of a different organ or part of the body and explained how it helps us live. There were lungs, brains, eyes, teeth, and even a tongue!

The students presented their projects to each other and then invited the Grade 5 students and teachers into their classrooms to show them, too. All in all, it was a fun time and the students enjoyed showing off their hard work.
