Girl’s Varsity Soccer Team Competed in Lisbon

On October 20 and 21, 2017, the ASV Girl’s Varsity Soccer Team played an international tournament hosted by CAISL school in Lisbon (Portugal). “The team was fantastic and we should be very proud as they have competed really well amongst some very strong teams in our first experience of the ESC tournament,”  Mr. Andy Ojelade (coach and ASV Athletic Director) said.

This was the first time the girl’s varsity soccer team competed in an ESC Tournament. Our players came up against 10 strong teams from all over Europe. “The teamwork shown throughout the competition was a real credit to the school,” Mr. Ojelade commented. “We are also exceptionally proud of the fact that Rosetta Taylor from Grade 11 was awarded the MVP award for the tournament’s best player. While team captain Teresa Garcia was selected as a member of the Tournament All-Star Team.”

The girls had time to explore Lisbon and were hosted by families from The Carlucci American International School of Lisbon.
