Getting Ready for the International Mother Language Day

Languages in the ASV Community

Once again, ASV follows the invitation of UNESCO and will celebrate language and diversity by holding a special activity in relation with the International Mother Language Day. The event will take place during the High School Advisory on Thursday, February 25, 2021, with specific activities for each class (as this year it is not possible to hold shared assemblies in the theater).

In connection with this event, a number of students, teachers and staff members have created an interactive map showing the variety of languages spoken within the ASV Community. Browse the map, click on the pins and press play to listen to a community member  introducing himself and sharing which is his mother language and which other languages he is able to speak.

International Mother Language Day (February 21), sponsored by UNESCO, promotes awareness of linguistic and cultural diversity and multilingualism. The ASV community is an example of both features thanks to these facts: 30% of international students, 46 different nationalities and 22 languages spoken among  the student population.
