Dr. Mónica Medina was working this week at the American School of Valencia. This renowned educator came to lead a Readers and Writers Workshop Training for teachers in Kinder and Elementary School. She also worked with a variety of Team Leaders to learn about adult learning and coaching to increase job-embedded learning at ASV.
The week plan included group sessions by grade level (Kinder through 5th grade teams with their Team Leaders); English teachers in Middle and High School had meeting specially designed for them, Team Leaders had a day-long session on adult learning and coaching. Ms. Medina also participated processes and created videos with teachers at ASV to support additional staff learning at ASV related to coaching and peer coaching.
The goal of this training was to continue to deepen teacher learning regarding the Readers and Writers Workshop to provide the highest level of education to our students, and to build capacity among teacher leaders. Monica has recommended our school to other international schools as a site where they could learn from our staff and see best practices in teaching and collaboration in action!
