A huge congratulations to the Boy’s Varsity Basketball team and Coach Mike Melin who performed excellently at the European Sports Conference Basketball tournament which was hosted by the American School of Barcelona. The tournament took place on March 13-14 and featured a total of ten teams from Spain, Switzerland, Germany, Italy and Portugal.
The schedule was gruelling but the team came through the group stage, finishing second behind the International School of Zug and Luzern. In the knockout stages, ISZL once again proved to be to be the strongest of the teams but ASV battled well to achieve fourth place after eventually losing an excellent game to the Bavarian International School. The team did exceptionally well in their first ESC competition. The level of play was high and the majority of the competing schools have been competing at this level for many years.
The boys were all hosted by families from ASB who were excellent hosts and had nothing but positive things to say about the ASV players. Well done to everyone involved!
