This week students of UCH CEU University leading the project SWICEU came to help ASV Grade 11 students with the soil samples collected during the previous weekend. The group will meet again on February 18 to see the first results.
SWICEU is a science collaborative project in which undergraduate students in science degrees engage local schools and explore with them the potential existence of beneficial microorganisms in soil samples. The project is addressed to boys and girls in Grade 11 (1º de Bachillerato in Spanish schools), introduces them in life science careers and, ultimately, nurtures a global collection of samples where new antibiotics may be discovered.
