ASV students have just finished their first full week at the Community School of Naples, Florida (USA). Students were the special guests at an assembly where ‘Amunt Valencia’ was the soundtrack and there was a special Valencia Trivia game played. They also have been getting familiar with their schedule and life on campus: they are engaged in core classes such as Science, Math, and History with host students and are experimenting with electives such as Python Programming, Creative Writing, Racket Sports, and Drone Racing to name a few.
The weather has been wonderful and the conditions were perfect for Thursday’s excursion to the Everglades where the students were taken out on an airboat in search of alligators. Many were spotted out in the wild and the captain explained many different facts about the unique ecosystem. Afterwards they were entertained at an alligator show and were able to hold a live gator. Also, the students were active in a variety of activities with host families throughout the weekend. It has been an amazing cultural and educational exchange so far!
ASV and CSN began their collaboration with student exchanges in January 2015, and since that date, over 125 ASV students have participated in this exciting and worthwhile program. We look forward to welcoming the CSN students to Valencia in March 2020.
