American School of Valencia is integrating the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals across a broad spectrum of areas including curriculum, infrastructure, professional development and community awareness. The driving force behind this initiative is the ASV Eco-Committee, which will hold its first meeting of the 2024-2025 academic year on Friday, October 4, 2024 at 11:00. The committee will analyze the eco projects completed in 2023-2024 and will plan their actions for the following months.
Some recent achievements are a consequence of the renovation of the kitchen and the dining hall: these school facilities are now more energy-efficient, facilitate waste separation and offer water filling stations to reduce the use of plastic. Additionally, the photovoltaic panel installed in 2022-2023 is producing renewable energy that is exceeding our expectations.
The ASV Eco Committee meets once per month to discuss environmental and social actions for the school. ASV also offers the Sustainability Open Forum, which meets twice a year and is composed of students, parents, faculty-staff and anyone in the school community interested in keeping abreast and contributing to the school’s diverse sustainability actions and programs.
