What initially was an emergency situation has now become the new norm. At ASV last week, in addition to offering lesson plans refined during Spring Break, the leadership team studied potential scenarios that the school may face in May and June, as well as continued to define the learning conditions for the coming weeks. The Middle School and High School faculty attended an online meeting on Wednesday, April 22, to review the current how-to (which includes additional synchronous lessons and weekly homework planning) and the tentative assessment methods for a 100 percent virtual period. Preschool and Elementary School will have their own session on April 29, 2020.
Students are receiving continual feedback from the school counselors on time management and emotional balance. Additionally, the ASV Middle School and High School Student Council has maintained virtual meetings within this time to discuss the global situation and their specific concerns and plan ways to help build school community even while distancing and separating physically from friends. “I feel like situations like this make us stronger, more flexible, open-minded, and improves our critical thinking. Stay home and stay safe!,” a Grade 9 representative said.
We appreciate the perseverance, open-mindedness, and resilience the ASV faculty is showing during this time in which, more than ever, our children need them. We also want to say thank you to all of our families for their support and cooperation at home, especially with those ages in which children are less independent for work.
