American School of Valencia is hosting 16 students coming from Community School of Naples as part of the academic exchange established with this school in Florida (United States). They arrived to Valencia on Wednesday, March 18, 2015 and used the first four days here to enjoy Fallas with their host families.
The students are 7th and 8th grades and this past Monday joined the school routine. In addition to the activities required here at the ASV, they have time for study hall to complete assignments made by their teachers in Florida. On Thursday and Friday they will enjoy special activities such as the High School Assembly and a field trip to Peñiscola.
The exchange program wants to foster international mindedness on students as well as global education becomes a key feature of CSN and ASV philosophy. As Dr. David Watson, Head of Community School of Naples, explained during their visit to ASV, “These sort of trips and exposures to international schools and schools in different countries, being comfortable going around the world, … makes you different. Admissions offices in universities are looking for these kind of experiences.” ASV Director, Michael L. Smith, added that “It is being an incredible experience, and both schools are benefiting enormously from it.”
