As the season comes to an end, we couldn’t be prouder of our Varsity Volleyball teams for their hard work, dedication, and outstanding achievements. This is the fifth season ASV has had both a male and female Varsity Volleyball team, a testament to our school’s commitment to inclusivity and excellence in athletics. It also marks Coach Gema Soria’s 10th year leading our teams, a milestone that speaks to her dedication and impact on our program ably assisted this year by Coach Manu Perez ASV alumni.

ASV competes in three major sports conferences throughout the school year: the Valencia International Schools (VIS) tournament, the Iberia League, and the European Sports Conference (ESC). This year, for the first time in ASV history, our boys’ team secured victories in two of these prestigious tournaments, winning both the VIS and the Iberia League in Barcelona—a remarkable accomplishment that highlights their perseverance and teamwork.
Meanwhile, the girls’ team traveled to Geneva and earned a historic third-place finish in an ESC tournament. Competing in one of the most challenging conferences, they rose to the occasion, proving that they are capable of anything they set their minds to.

A standout moment of the season was ASV being awarded the Spirit Award in every volleyball tournament played in 2024-2025. Voted on by all participating schools, this distinguished honor recognizes the team that best embodies sportsmanship, values, and respect—making it in many ways, the most meaningful trophy of all.
One of the most inspiring aspects of this year was the leadership of our captains, Malia and TJ, who not only led by example but also mentored younger players, especially the 9th graders. Their guidance strengthened the team’s unity and ensured a bright future for ASV volleyball.
“It has been an honor to lead ASV’s rising volleyball talents. Our biggest challenge was believing in our own potential, but once we did, our growth became exponential. I have no doubt that this team will dominate in the years to come.” shared Timothy B. the captain of the boys team.
“Being part of the ASV volleyball team for the past four years has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my high school journey. Our team has grown together not just as athletes, but as a family, creating bonds that go beyond the court. As captain, I couldn’t be prouder of the dedication and effort each player has put in. Now, as I prepare to graduate, it’s bittersweet to say goodbye, but I know the friendships, lessons, and memories will stay with me forever. This team will always have a special place in my heart.” reveals Malia, our girls captain.
Beyond the wins, this season has been about growth, camaraderie, and a shared love for the game. The bonds formed and lessons learned will leave a lasting impact on all involved.
Congratulations to all players, coaches, and supporters for an unforgettable season. Your passion continues to elevate ASV athletics—here’s to even greater success ahead!
