The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals were created in 2015 as a global effort towards progress in environmental, political, and economic challenges. This year the Grade 10 cohort has been working diligently on researching one of the five UN SDGs that are most connected to the English curriculum: quality education; gender equality; decent work and economic growth; reduced inequalities; or peace, justice and strong institutions. As part of this project, students were asked to compose a 2,000 words research paper that reflects their deep understanding of their respective goal.
On Friday, May 16, 2025, the Athletic Center hosted an event conceived to share the outcomes of this special learning project: the ASV Sustainability Summit. Each Grade 10 student had a spot to present their SDG research to parents, faculty-staff, students in other grade levels, and any member of the ASV community interested.
