46 students in Grade 12 spent three days in Brussels (Belgium) visiting one of the three locations of the European Parliament (EP), the legislative body of the European Union. The trip is part of the educational activities the institution deploys throughout its elected members (MEP).
The ASV group departed on Tuesday and had three guided tours on Wednesday: the first was the Hemicycle, which hosts the main offices of MEP and all of the extraordinary sessions (while the regular sessions take place in Strasbourg, France); then the group visited the Parlamentarium, a visitors’ center designed to describe the path towards European cooperation and how the European Parliament works. The final stage of the tour was the House of European History.
The trip reinforces part of the Grade 12 curriculum and remarks values such as international mindedness and the importance of learning languages in an interconnected world.
