American School of Valencia is collaborating with Sint Maria Geel in Belgium to develop an Erasmus+ practicum experience for students in their last year of completing the Belgian national baccalaureate. As of May 2, 2022, seven students are having an opportunity to experience ASV for two or three weeks and be part of our school community by collaborating with faculty and other ASV staff members. On Monday, the group had an orientation meeting led by the ASV Curriculum Coordinator, Ms. Amanda Bird, and then they joined the assigned classes and services and started their work with the ASV mentors.
Erasmus+ is the European Union’s program to support education, training, youth, and sport in Europe. During their experience at ASV, the Erasmus+ students will have an opportunity to shadow an educational role, learn what teachers’ and other professionals’ roles consist of, and become familiar with cutting-edge practices in education.
Sint Maria Geel offers three innovative educational pathways in secondary education: students can take one of three itineraries focused on Economics and Organization, Language and Culture, or Society and Welfare. The school is part of a larger educational school group, Kogeka, and its campus is located in Geel, in the Flanders region of Belgium.
ASV is excited to welcome these Erasmus+ students to Valencia and explore a productive and enduring partnership with Sint Maria Geel.
